EXPLORING WASHINGTON D.C !!!

jeudi 8 septembre 2016

After our arrival in new New York, we had a few problem with what we wanted to visit ( I'll explain everything in the New York post) thing is one of our must-sees got postponed!

The good news is we would arrive in WASHINGTON D.C earlier!

So we drove about 5hours to arrive in Washington D.C and it was just WOW! Washington you're gorgeous!!
it's just so clear and beautiful, it really feels healthy! Of course, we already saw exactly where to go...all the touristic attractions were right in the middle, we saw the white house, then the Washington Monument, the World War II memorial and just walk all the way to the Lincoln memorial, then we went all the way back to see the Capitol!

I've got to admit that I stopped every two minutes and was like "aww that squirrel is soo cute, aww is soo close!!" like that every time I saw a squirrel! the thing is in France we have squirrels, they just don't approach us...soo that's kind of new!

You can visit the White house if you feel like it, all the information in French are in HERE and in English in HERE.

Everything is FREE!!! If you want to visit something else, like the Smithsonian or anything ...you have a large choice...just go THERE! At least they will give you an idea on what to see and where to go!

In Washington, there's plenty of street food if you like it (you cannot starve to death or be thirsty) and it's not that expensive, I've got to admit!

But we went to eat at the Cosi on 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW,  that's more expensive but it's good! it's not a restaurant, it's more of a fancy fast food.

Good luck finding a place to park, maybe there are parking around the monuments but we parked on a quiet street and just walk because it was Sunday and the entire planet seemed to be in Washington D.C that day!

Still, have a good feeling of Washington, it's really nice has tourists, I don't know though if it's a good place to live, I didn't stay long enough to tell! I did pretty much everything in one day...

If you want to take your time and really see and do everything two or three days can suffice! I don't know...what the locals have to say about it? Are three days enough to see all of the touristic things there's to see in Washington?

But I'll come back one day for you, I haven't seen the Smithsonian and I've been told it was worth seeing, is it true?

Then after a full day walking and visiting we had to drove 2h from there to Ashland, just to get closer to Florida...still have soo much do see!

We stopped in a motel (That was awesome!!!! Felt like in Supernatural (love that show (in case you didn't know)) it really was great, the woman was super nice, she let us use the pool even if it closed like an hour ago and it was cheap! don't be surprised if the shower regulator fall over your feet, just call the reception and they'll fix it right away (it's a motel, after all, that's part of the adventure!)

Our MOTEL:

  • Super 8

806 B England St Ashland/Richmond Virginia, located on Highway 54 and has a quick access to the interstate 95.

  • PRICE: $26 per person (little tip, it's less expensive if you pay directly when you arrive than to book by phone or on the internet).
  • More information: super8ashland/richmond

Where to eat?

There's plenty of restaurants around, but be careful, they pretty much all close around 10 pm, except for some.

I didn't eat in every single one of them and I'm probably forgetting some but I highly recommend Cracker Barrel, it's really nice, the staff is pretty cool and the food is great, especially if you're getting sick of fast food restaurants and you want a nice place not too expensive!

My posts need answers so don't hesitate to leave me a comment! thanks

MY AMAZING CURSED HOLIDAYS IN THE USA!!!

vendredi 2 septembre 2016

Hi guys, so finally there it is...my post about my time in the USA!!!
So I'm gonna start with a lot of Bla Bla since there's a lot to talk about...first things first you need to know that we had something wrong every two days! not kidding, it was as prompt as a shrew (I'm terrible with all the expressions...even in French so don't be surprised if I invent them!)

The first day, we arrive at the airport in Paris, we go to the check in for our luggage when we saw that our flight was 2 hours delayed...it doesn't matter... 2h isn't the end of the world! We're on holidays everything is perfectly fine!
We go and eat something when we (I still don't know by what miracle) saw that our flight was canceled...CANCELED!!!! WHAT? NO F****** WAY! (sorry that was rude).

Life is awful, life is terrible, life is unfair... then a miracle... they have five places (we were five) for the next flight tomorrow (there was no other flight, in any other airport) one of us yelled (probably scared the hell at the entire airport) but he yelled so loud to say that we were five and that it was almost destiny that they (Still don't know by what kind of miracle) but they gave us the places...next flight tomorrow for London then New York!! we didn't care that it's tomorrow because in compensation they'll pay us the hotel and the food for the night, then we have insurances in case of a canceled flight...

(Our Hero!)

A Little bit of advice:
                                    - First when you're in this case, ALWAYS accept that they pay you the hotel (you gain a free night at a hotel, plus a free meal) that's better than paying for the taxi to bring you home.
                                    - Then travel with an insurance 'cause that really helps in a case like this!
                                    - Finally, when you see that the staff of the airport has a solution that you feel is perfect for you...yell as hard as you can, don't be aggressive (that never works) look desperate...that shouldn't be too hard!

That wasn't the best first day of holidays ever but that's part of the adventure so, to me everything was just going perfectly! I had my plane ticket and a hotel and I was leaving for New York the day after...so it's just great.

The shuttle took us to the IBIS HOTEL, is was cozy and simple, the buffet was good so... don't need more for one night!
Of course, the rooms are small and there was a strange smell in our bathroom and we had a view over the trash...like I said it was good for one night and free for that matter!
Otherwise, I would have asked to change room (not because of the trash or even the small room, just because of the smell in the bathroom, like a cat had peed on the floor and every single wall) that is why! But everything was okay for my friends so that was just me and my luck!

(Little pic so you can see my entire crew)

Can't wait to write to you in my next post about New York and Washington D.C (more about Washington D.C you'll get why in my next post) since nothing happened the day after (we were on a plane all day, nothing exciting to tell, I watch tv all the time, didn't even take a nap)!!

What about you, have you ever had cursed holidays?

THREE DAYS IN LONDON ( Last day)!!!

jeudi 25 août 2016
Hi, guys!

I know it's been a while since my last post, but for those of you who follow me on Instagram you know that I was on holidays in the United States...whatever I'm back!!
A little jet lagged...well not just a little I'm like stupid tired...but I'm back!

So I'm gonna tell you about my last day in London...finally!
We didn't do much, we had to catch up our train around 7 pm so we woke up and went looking for food...yes breakfast is the most important meal of the day soo...brunch time at the amazing Breakfast Club...we waiting for 30 minutes or so to get in, there was a lot of people but it really was good and I ate like an ogre!
And then we went shopping for souvenirs...can't go abroad without bringing souvenirs to your loved ones...they would kill me if I did...or just leave me on the doorstep, like I'm not coming in if I don't have gifts! I know crazy right???!!! (I would react the exact same way!!)

So where do you think people go for souvenirs shopping, huh? To Piccadilly Circus of course!
Yep that one is the right, I can't tell you the name of every store we went in, there's just too many, but I remember going to that Toy shop, you know the one sales are playing with you...yeah that one! One of my best friends got her Hermione Granger wand in there, she was like a child on Christmas...that was amazing to see!

after that we went straight to the V&A Museum (Victoria and Albert) that was something to see, I really enjoy museums and this one was a must do! I'm not going to tell you everything I saw but you know you'll have pictures!!!

After that we went back to our youth hostel to get our bags back and took the subway to St Pancras International, our train was delayed of course and I was working the next morning of course...I was home at 1 am just because that was fun!

That's pretty much about it, I haven't forgotten that I have to do another post with all the addresses I've been in London...don't worry I'll do it. Right after a good nap, cause I couldn't sleep last night thanks to the jet lag...I started sleeping at 6 am (saw the sunrise though) that was until a mosquito piss me off...but I was too tired to chase it so I let it bite me and fell asleep anyway...well I'm done boring you with my misery....see you on instagram, twitter (@maiitikaa), snapchat (emiliepinoy) or pinterest (same name) or Hellocoton (if you're on it) whatever suits you the best!

Where would you go in London?

THREE DAYS IN LONDON ( day two)!!!

lundi 1 août 2016

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I was in Montpellier last week that why you have "day two in London" today!

So Day two was amazing, I know...What's not amazing about London, you'll ask me? well, the weather perhaps? you disagree? what a bad mouth I am, I spend my entire weekend in my shorts... well, enough Bla Bla!

On day two we woke up early to go strolling in Camden Market...you know how much I love markets...well this one is AMAZING!! full of colors and things to see, vintage and new...I was like a child!

First, we went to the covered part, where there were new things like jewels and bags and soaps and so much more!!!
After that, we were looking for the Horse tunnel market where the vintage part is...awesome, the old suitcases and books, the old postcards and the geek stuff like Daleks from Doctor Who or Star Wars stuff that was just great !!!!

But the part where I was in wonderland was the food part!!!!! it was from all over the world, it was hard for me to choose...but I finally stopped at the Mexican stand and get a Tacos while my friends got Indian food!

After having an amazing lunch we went walking on London Canals to reach Regent's Park, it was the first time I was in that part of London and truly I was amazed...after coming for the sixth time in London I am still discovering it. It's like I will never know the city, no matter how many times I come.

And I find that great because it's an endless discovery and it is exactly what I am looking for in this world...to always learn and see new things!

So after the Canals, we reach Regent's Park...Do you know how lucky you are London? In Paris we don't have that kind of parks...soo floral and you can walk on grass which is forbidden in most our parks...of course there's other amazing stuff to see in Paris that London doesn't have, but when it comes to parks you've got the award!

At the end of the day went back to our hostel to get prepared for the final match between France and Portugal...but first we needed to get strength so we went to the Bibimbap in Soho...It was so good!! really I recommend it if you like Korean food, of course!

Then back to the Three Greyhound to watch the match! Well, we weren't the only French in this pub...poor Portuguese, we were 95% French in the pub, 4% English for France and 1% Portuguese! But even if we lose that match and that we were disgusted and quite angry, it was still a great evening, full of new meeting with amazing persons...that is what I like about those pubs!

Well, that's it for day two, I think we had quite a full day!!

What's your favorite Pub in London? I still can't choose, there's just too many of them that I like!
